March 2023 Monthly Favorites

Welcome back to the Monthly Favorites. It’s been a bit of a doozy in terms of me and my content this past month, so thank you all for your support. Be it a comment, like, just taking time to look at a post or whatever; it truly means a lot to me. I sincerely appreciate it and I just want to make sure to say that first and foremost.

Secondly, it’s been an interesting month of content consumption, as well as in the blog-o-sphere! As always let’s jump into goodness I’ve discovered this month! There’s lots to read or watch, I’m sure you’ll find something below!

Anime

From The Visualist’s Veranda is “Day Thirteen: Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (March of the Movies 2023)“. For any super passionate Studio Ghibi fans… this review will be polarizing I think. But it’s way more even of a review then I tend to see of Studio Ghibi movies so I do highly recommend it.

Vile Fiend Writes posted earlier, “Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens: An Impassioned Defense“. I totally agree that Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens was, and remains to be a great series. Read their review, and give it a watch!!

It’s March, and for those around the blog-o-sphere knows what that means! We have a ton of Mecha March post from Scott of Mechanical Anime Reviews. My personal favorite is “(#MECHAMARCH2023) THE BRAVE OF THE SUN FIGHBIRD“, i.e. the origin of “Is this a pigeon?” meme. If this series isn’t to your liking, be sure to check the other available posts!

As a friend of Natsume, I feel compelled to share other friends’ of Natsume’s stuff! From DReager1.com is “Natsume’s Book of Friends Review“. As always, be sure to give it a read, and make to watch Natsume’s Book of Friends while you’re at it!

Manga

From Youtuber Colleen of Colleen’s Manga Rec’s is “The Rise and Falling of Shojo Beat“. I think it’s a fascinating look at the imprint of shojo manga that defined at least my shojo manga journey. The good bad and ugly, makes for a lot of interesting points and changes. Well-worth watching for any manga fan, but especially for shojo fans.

Perfect World is one of those titles that I’ve heard about, watched the live action of actually, but have yet to read. “Perfect World: a romance for the ages” from mosaicboy’s Interest Nook has me covered, and got this series back on my radar. Be sure to give the post a read, and then the manga!

JDramas and Movies

From Minty of Black & Yellow Otaku Gamers is “MOVIE | The Snow White Murder Case (JP) — Not everything you hear and see are facts“. Minty goes through and takes this movie in depth, complete with their reactions and real-life parallels. It’s a long but worth-while read especially in this current era.

Music

From Mack Samson of Weeb Revues is “Bonus Post: First Impressions of Sailor Moon Idol Group SG5“. I highly recommend it since Mack is significantly less biased then myself. So make sure you get multiple opinions before my below request…
