Well, better late than never when it comes to answering a blogger award, and tag! My schedule this month was pretty filled up so I hope this isn’t too late. Normally I churn these posts as soon as I’m aware I have been tagged, but this one was a little tricky for me to answer. But here… we… go!
As per all awards and tags, we gotta get on the same page!
- Use the official logo/graphic of the award and display it on your blog post.
- List the rules
- Tag the original creator: Riddhi @Whispering Stories and the person who nominated you! So Thank you Crow!
- Mention the most exceptional thing about you and your blog (One about you and one about your blog).
- Mention one thing you find exceptional about the blogger who nominated you (To show love for the blogging community!)
- Answer the three questions posed by the person who nominated you.
- Share your favourite blog post that you’ve written.
- Tag 7 people! (Because 7 is such a magical number!)
Exceptional thing about me
To be honest, the reason I took so long to answer this tag was because of this first prompt. I have a hard time with the idea of anything about me being ‘exceptional’. I’m just me, and I’m pretty okay with that most days.
To give a better answer, it’s that I problem solve before asking for help. It sounds dumb but if my life has taught me anything there are more people who will ask people for help first before helping themselves. You know like why try trouble shooting when you can just make it someone else’s problem? Most of my coworkers and friend’s know that I will exceedingly attempt to fix it myself before asking, so when I do finally ask; there’s usually an actual issue. It’s made people a lot more willing to help me too, so that’s a bonus.
Exceptional thing about my blog
I would easily say the variety of topics I cover on my blog. I tend to bounce around when inspiration strikes; anime, manga, Japanese dramas and films, you guys know the deal. While I’m not exceptionally consistent on covering all these things – I do usually get back to them all at some point. On top of that providing my mish-mashed amateur expertise into some interesting posts.
Exceptional thing about Crow
The most exception thing about Crow I would say is their consistency. Their consistency is not just the fact they’re always writing, but in post style, topics, frequency, and more. It’s incredibly admirable to see a blogger with such a schedule and high quality of written content! While I might not be able to check out every post – the ones I do check out strike me as well thought out, intentional, and of course well written.
Crow’s Questions
Why is your favorite anime genre?
I’m going to go out on a limb and say that Crow means ‘What is your favorite anime genre?’. I still have a really hard time getting genre specific, since I’m more if it has themes I like I’ll watch it. But to keep with the question, I would have to say Sci-fi. Some of my all time favorite titles to this day are Ghost in the Shell and Chobits – science fiction with cyborgs, persocoms, and the introspection of what makes us human.
If you had to add a new regular feature to your blog, what would it be?
I would have to say a collaboration of some sort. Not always the same fellow blogger mind you, but just a regular collaboration project with others in the blogger community. Why this hasn’t come to fruition yet, is mostly because I haven’t been able to set aside time to plan it, and I’m not sure if I’d be able to keep time set aside to work on it.
My last question has two parts, and they’re intergral to each other, so I don’t feel guilty for apparently cheating! a. What question would you most like me (or anyone else) to ask you about anime? b. How would you answer that question?
A) “Why do you like *insert anime here*?” or “What makes *character U* better than the main protagonist?” – It’s my favorite question(s) my uncle use to ask me. My uncle was not an anime fan mind you. He was a bit of pop culture whiz so he knew titles like Spirited Away, Astro Boy, etc. But the stuff I was watching? Naruto, Fruits Basket, etc? No way in hell he had a clue, but nonetheless he would sit down and ask me about them. And I’d gladly talk his ear off about it, and the funny thing is he would remember the details.
So weeks later he’d ask follow up questions like “Did *character U* ever reappear in the comic?” or “I saw volume 7 at Barnes and Noble, did you buy it yet?”. It really made me more confident to talk about my interests and learn to gauge people’s willingness to listen (i.e. they want a synopsis, or can I go in depth about the the allegories, etc). Which as someone who grew up on the cusp of anime being more widely acceptable, and in general having niche interests was invaluable.
B) I was going to cheap out and write “can’t answer because I didn’t give a specific example”. But for this example I’ll write a breif bit on if the question was “What makes Subaru Sumaragi (X) better than the main protagonist (Kamui)?”.
My answer would be: Well, I don’t think that Subaru is actually a better protagonist than Kamui. At least in X. Subaru had his time to shine and be fleshed out as character in Tokyo Babylon and his conflict with Seishirou established. So having him return in X, especially with such a dramatic change in his personality was really intriguing. I find it interesting to see how his story parallels and contrasts with Kamui and Fuuma’s as a secondary story line, that honestly I am betrayed CLAMP has left incomplete for such a long time. However, I can also admit I’m just biased since he’s a fraternal twin too.

Rise’s Questions – should you chose to participate
- What medium (books, movies, etc) do you think is best for an immersive storytelling experience?
- Who is the blogger whose posts get you thinking the most?
- How often do you write for you blog in a given week?
Like many before me, this is a no pressure, do it if you want, if you don’t no hard feelings tag. I’ll looking forward to more answers, or comments below. And I’ll see you guys next post!
Thanks for the tag, Rise! I already wrote my first draft of my response. However, I’m undecided if I wanna post it this week, or do the post I originally planned for. Either way… I’ll post my response later this month!

Thanks for answering! I enjoyed reading your answers.
Sounds like your uncle was very interesting! His question was thought-provoking, to be sure!
I was going to correct my “why” question, but I didn’t think that would be fair to anyone who’s already answered. So thanks for interpreting it!

You’re most welcome! Thanks for tagging me!
He was a bit of writer himself, so that might have something to do with it.
I mean, interpretations are more fun to answer it!
