Happy New Year to all my fellow bloggers! I hope that the holidays have treated you well, and you’ve been able to spend some quality time with loved ones during them. I’m looking forward to seeing what the community has in store this year, and can’t wait to show you guys what I have in store for you as well!
I didn’t quite intend for this to become a reoccurring feature, but since this is only once a year at best I don’t think too many people will mind. It’s the same format as before, just me checking in with some goals I set out with last year to see what I accomplished, and tell you guys about some new ones. Without any further ado, what were the goals from last year again?
Drama Watching Goals 2021
- Continue, with the goal of completing, my A-Z Drama Challenge
- Continue, with the goal of completing, my A-Z Movie Challenge
This is a bit of a yikes on my part. I watched exactly 1 movie from the list, only because it was going to be taken off streaming. Embarrassingly, the review is still in my drafts completed, but I don’t want to post it since I didn’t want to mess up my order. Oof.
I did a bit better with dramas. I managed to complete 5 titles; I, J, K, M, and N surprisingly. I’m hoping that my N title review will be out around the same time as this post. We’ll see how that goes, but it should be coming soon lol. But I was anticipating being further along by now closer to finishing.
Alas, that happens and challenges are just that. A challenge, something for fun, but I do really wished I had a little more to show. We’ll see what I do in my new goal setting…
Anime and Manga Goals 2021
Watch one anime from my ‘Plan to Watch List’ that I put on there because of another bloggerRead and Review three manga titles from my shelf
Now in this aspect, I knocked it out of the park! Whoo-hoo! The anime I watched for the first goal being Marudase Kintarou which was due to Irina’s influence. It’s so short that I would be embarrassed if I hadn’t watched gotten to it, and it was pretty funny on top of it.
As for the manga goal; I crushed it. In my original post, I mentioned five different titles I was planning on getting to and I got to all of them. I am beyond pleased with myself in that regard, and super proud that they were not only read but reviewed too!
So now, we get to transition into what I want to accomplish in 2022. So let’s go ahead and see what goals I’ve set…
Drama Watching Goals 2022
- Complete my A-Z Drama Challenge
- Complete my A-Z Movie Challenge
I feel like this is obvious, repetitive so I’ll keep this short, but I really am determined to finish what I started back in 2020. I have all the resources and abilities to do this but just haven’t. So with a renewed vigor that I haven’t had since the JLPT- I’m going to finish these challenges this year!!!
Anime and Manga Goals 2022
- Watch one anime from my ‘Plan to Watch List’ that I put on there because of another blogger
- Read and review Swan by by Kiyoko Ariyoshi
Much like last year; why fix something that isn’t broken? I like this anime goal a lot. It makes me feel like I’m more part of the anime community, not only making recommendations and reviews of course, but actually taking others recommendations and viewing them for myself. And it’s rather achievable in the grand scheme of things.
As for my manga goal… I’ve owned the entire 21 volume series for over a year now. I can’t tell you how much joy it brings simply being on my shelves, and how elated I was and continue to be. Swan is a series I never thought I’d be able to read in my lifetime due to linguistic barriers but I know I can. It’s kind of a manga of my dreams, I never thought I’d read it, let alone own it.
Despite all my flowery language and love for Swan; I still haven’t read it. I’ve actually banned myself from buying anymore manga until I finish at least the original series. Maybe I’ll get super ambitious and buy the sequels and spin-offs too if all goes well. I don’t want to bit off more then I can chew here though. So, just read and review Swan. Simple enough. Now to just actually you know… start doing that…
And that my friends is the entirety of this post. A bit of a self reflection (admittedly a bit of shame lmao) maybe some anticipation, but most importantly I have priorities this year! As always, that’s all for now and I’ll see you next post which should be more exciting!
Happy new year, Rise! 🌟
