Welcome back to me featuring a bunch of things that I enjoyed this month! We have quite the line-up this month and I think just about anyone who clicks will find something they enjoy on here. Without further ado, let’s get into this feature!
First up is from Watching Asia Film Reviews with “Black Magic M-66 (1987) [OVA Review]“. Despite this now having two strong recommendations from bloggers I admire and respect; I still haven’t watched it. It’s on the list. If you, like myself, need to remember why this is on your list be sure to give this a read, and let’s pinkie promise in the comments we’ll watch it soon lol.
From Evening Tea Musings we have “Midway Impressions: Horimiya“. This is one time where my viewing experience was so drastically different then Annie’s! It’s important as bloggers that we take time to see what other’s, especially when they have a different experience, are saying about some of our recent favorites.
A woman after my own heart, we have Lita Kino with “IRRELEVANT Winning or losing – SK8 The Infinity“. You know those reviews you read and go “WOW this blogger vibed with this exactly like I did!”. That’s me with Lita’s review and it’s always so much fun to see and read.
It’s been awhile since I’ve seen a conversation about this series, but this is a good one to read. “Dororo [Review]” by shadikk’s Blogspot is in fact another review of the series. What makes it worth checking out is the commentary about the original Dororo anime from 1969, as well as the elements of this 2019 recent adaptation of the manga and anime. It’s succinct and well-written especially if you need a refresher as to why you put this series on your PTW.
In the realm of manga this month we have a new to my blog feature, DReager1.com with “Whistle Review“. As manga of you know I am a super fan of the manga, but haven’t made the time to really give the series a review yet. For now, take a look at theirs to get a more neutral idea of what one of my favorite series is all about.
JDramas and Movies
Another new to my feature section is H.K. Rowe with “TV Review – Coffee and Vanilla“. It’s another one of those love it or hate it JDramas that I have yet to watch. But… nonetheless I remain tempted once again after reading their review.
We then have Sarah Writes Reviews with “Review: 3 Nen A Gumi“. A series that I look back on rather fondly from 2019. I had some differing thoughts especially on the ending, but reading another person’s interpretation and experience with a project is always fun. It really was one of the smash hit dramas of the past few years so get on board with reading this review and watching it!
Short, sweet and to the point is what I really appreciate in as shown on screen’s blog “Thoughts On: Code Blue (Japanese Drama)“. I might not be the biggest fan of medical dramas, but I appreciate those that appreciate them. So if you’re interested in a long-standing JDrama to get into here is your signal!
A title that has made waves since it’s release last year, “Shanai Marriage Honey (2020)” by Vanishing Days explains why. A short, sweet, maybe even sexy series with Itagaki Mizuki as the lead? Sign me up too once my drama challenge is done. (Or maybe I’ll get distracted and watch it in-between something else).
Space Jam is iconic enough where it could be it’s own category right? We’ll roll with that especially with Jacobtheawesome‘s “A Look Back at ‘Space Jam’ – The movie that defined my childhood (and the 90s)” on Jon Spencer’s Reviews. I mean… the 90’s practically invented rose color glasses right? It was in trend then, right? Either way it’s a nostalgic look at the past as the new movie rears it’s head (still haven’t seen it myself) so let’s bask in this review and original film a bit longer shall we?
And that’s about all I have for you at the moment. I will send you off with my newest summer bop of “tiny lady” from Akira Takano. The chorus is one of the catchiest things I’ve heard in a long time, and I will be bopping around to it long after the heat subsides. Otherwise I’ll see you next month!
