Topic: Favorite Captain
This one was easy. Sekizan Takuya from Kanagawa High School in All Out!!. If I could re-live my high school life as a Japanese teenage boy, I would want Sekizan to be my captain. That may or may not now become a light-novel adaptation, I call it now.
Moving on, Sekizan is the type of captain that I really respect. He clearly has the physique and mannerisms of a compelling captain. He really fits the stereotypical profile of being a cruel master of the team that would run his teammates into the ground and feel no remorse on the subject. Yet, he’s the exact opposite.
Don’t get me wrong, he’s no tsundere. Sekizan does have a firm grip on his team and how he wants things to do. Instead of following in his senpai’s footsteps and literally causing people to quit; he does everything he can to keep teammates on the team.
For all his moments where he instills the wrath of god in you, he also is incredibly kind. He reads the atmosphere not only of the field, but the locker room. His execution of interpersonal relationships isn’t perfect. Let’s face it he’s a teenage boy, but he’s genuine in his concern. He never stirs people up beyond motivation, and never completely tears anyone on his team down.
His leadership is that of a firm, but ultimately kind captain who takes what that responsibility means seriously. Thus, making him my favorite captain of any team.
With Captain, Oh captain over, I’ll see tomorrow for Day Fifteen fun!
